Overcoming Adversity: a Day Retreat

Saturday, May 9 - 11:00am to 4:00pm - Portland, ME

with Clare Morin and Evie Enslow

Difficult situations are an unavoidable part of life. But Buddhist meditation teaches that we can learn to work with these challenges in a way that strengthens our mind rather than overwhelms it.

One of the most powerful practices in Buddhist mind training is known as “transforming adverse conditions into the path.” Instead of seeing problems as obstacles, we learn how to use them as opportunities for growth, compassion, and wisdom.

In this three-session retreat, we will explore practical meditation methods for transforming difficulties into inner strength and clarity. The first two sessions will focus on the “method” practices for working skillfully with challenges, and the third session will explore the wisdom approach.

Each session will include a talk and guided meditation. This retreat is suitable for both newcomers and experienced meditators. Everyone is welcome.

Session times:
11:00am-12:15pm
1:30-2:30pm
3:00-4:00pm

$40 (free for supporting members)

Everyone is welcome. No previous experience needed.
